Selmer Series 9* Bb Clarinet
A wonderful example of Selmer's clarinet craftsmanship, circa 1965. This instrument was overhauled by us about a year ago, and is now offered on consignment by the owner. It's in 120517140466great condition, with no visible cracks or plating wear. The nickel silver plating was cleaned, but not polished. Pads and corks are still in fine shape. Comes in its original Vanguard case.
This clarinet has the warm tone, crisp response and precise intonation that is characteristic of Selmer clarinets of this era. They are often favored by jazz players, though plenty of symphonic musicians have played on them over the years. The perfect instrument for a woodwind doubler or and advanced student ready to "move up" to a professional clarinet. $850.00

Selmer "Centered Tone" Clarinet
A classic, from 1956, this "Centered Tone" clarinet, serial #Q5713 is a full Boehm system, with 6 rings, an articulated G# key, and a low Eb key. The low Eb key would give the player the range of an A clarinet without the expense of an additional instrument. This one is scheduled for complete restoration in 2008. Selmer "Signet" Clarinet
The "Signet" was Selmer's intermediate line of clarinets during the 1960's and '70's. They were very nicely made instruments and, when overhauled and set up properly, make very fine horns for advanced students, doublers or pros looking for a back-up. The wood stock was better back then, so if you can find one that is not cracked, it probably never will. The body of this one is perfect. It is scheduled for complete overhaul in late 2007. Buffet R-13 B-Flat Clarinet Great-playing Buffet R-13 clarinet, serial number 138,XXX, built around 1973. Warm, even tone; tight, focused sound; impeccable scale.
The grenadilla wood body has no cracks and shows no signs of ever having been pinned. If it hasn't cracked in over 30 years, if probably never will, if it's treated properly. These older Buffet's are made of better quality wood than is commonly available today. Why buy a new one, only to have it crack in the first few years?
The upper joint has been re-padded recently, with a combination of cork and bladder pads. The lower joint pads are a bit older, but still quite serviceable. Nickel silver keys are slightly tarnished, but in great shape.
A great instrument for the pro or advanced student. $1200
