Student Flutes
Student Flutes
Student flute are generally made of brass that is plated with nickel or sterling silver.
There are plenty of good brands to choose from, as most instrument makers either
make student flutes themselves or have another maker produce them, then "stencil"
their brand name on it.  Just watch out for the very inexpensive imported flutes that are
flooding the market and the internet right now.  They are inferior instruments that will
never play right and lead to frustration for anyone trying to learn to play. For more
information, read our
Guide to Selecting a Woodwind Instrument.   Any of our
instruments marked as "scheduled for overhaul" can generally be made ready in 2-3
days.
Student Flutes
Yamaha 225 Student Flutes
In our opinion, these are the best student flutes available.
They play in tune, they play easily, and they feel like a real
flute in your hands.  Yamaha pays attention to detail, and
these flutes are very well constructed.  They will hold up
over time.  Our pre-owned Yamahas flutes are "certified"
used instruments.  This means they are completely
dis-assembled, then thoroughly cleaned.  As we are
rebuilding them, we replace any worn pads, corks or felts.
The fit of the head joint and the foot joint to the body is
adjusted, and the flute is regulated so that it plays correctly.
They need nothing and come with a one-year warranty.  A
new Yamaha student flute has a list price of just over $800.
Our reconditioned, "certified" Yamaha flutes  sell for only
$350
Why spend more than you have to?

Vito (Yamaha) Student Flutes
These flutes were made by Yamaha, and the brand-name Vito was
stenciled on.  This is a common practice in the musical instrument
industry.  They are identical to Yamaha flutes in every way except
the name.  They are marked "Japan".  We can buy them for less,
so we pass the savings on to you.  If name recognition is not an
issue for you, then go with the less expensive pre-owned Vito for
only
$275
